Probably one of the best shows next to doll house that Joss Wheadon was involved with, and probably the last of it's kind ever to grace our screens. real world issues dealt with in a fantasy world with respect . but like ALL shows Joss either created directed or just hung around during shoots ( which is enough to make a show great), it was cancelled before the story could be properly told @Hellfist. could'nt agree more with your observations.
many times this show over the seasons made me happy, sad, laugh, cry. angry, and never disappointed me. It dealt with many issues at the time without the heavy handedness of most do now days. The main thing is it was entertaining, sure the drama was light and at times a little campy but it was the charm of this that made it such a great show. This is the first serious attempt at something resembling the fantastic mood of supernatural. Its got its funny moments, its got its horror (like proper horror and dead people). But the way Supernatural just crushes your soul with angst... I don't think any other show compares.... The winchesters seriously can never get a break and Buffy seems pretty ok at least in season 1. love it so much , finally a horror type series that isn't made for horny teens :D
This show is the only show ever made by Joss Whedon (director of the avengers) that did not get canceled. The show started as a mid season replacement for Savannah so it is needless to say the the acting and budget (season 1 fights are ...) are lackluster at best. However, as the seasons progress the show gets really good, even starting its own spinoff called Angel.
